Don't forget to turn on your Christmas lights tonight. Judges will be out and about checking out this year's displays between 7 and 10 p.m. tonight. Look in next week's Star for a list of winners

Prizes go to the winners in the residential and commercial categories.

Some of the impressive displays seen so far are near the corner of Railroad Avenue and 8th Street.

It is always a joy to see "Santa's Sailboat" return to Dolores.

Mark Looper, owner of Pony Expresso Coffee shop has been working overtime decorating the store also on the corner of Railroad Avenue and Eighth Street. Mark says he has installed 13,250 lights.

It's his biggest display yet.

Be sure to check it out, but roll down your window to hear the Christmas music.

Looper said 20 different Christmas carols play as part of the light display.

"It's my biggest display ever," Looper said.

Also at Pony Expresso don't miss the Dolores High School wall of fame. Some beautiful student art is on display at the coffee shop for you enjoyment. We have some talented artists in Dolores schools.

Ribbon cutting

The Dolores Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting ceremony for GST Liquors. The liquor store opened earlier this year.

The chamber also announced that the liquor store will soon start selling lottery tickets. Tickets can reportedly be bought as early as Friday.

Art showcase

Don't miss the new art show at the Anasazi Heritage Center. The new contemporary art exhibit melds ancient Native American traditions to showcase history from a modern point of view at the Anasazi Heritage Center in Dolores. The show opened earlier this month and replaced the year-long mountain lion exhibit. The juried art show features works by students, alumni, faculty and staff from the Institute of American Indian Arts community in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

The Anasazi Heritage Center (27501 Colorado 184 in Dolores) is open daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the 'Ancestral Homelands Connection to Land, Space and Time' exhibit is on display through October 2015.

Congratulations

Winwood Bowman was the $300 winner of the Dolores Dollars campaign. Bowman will get $300 in Dolores Dollars, which can be spent at participating stores in town. The name was drawn at the bonfire event at the Dolores Town Hall Saturday. I hear Santa even made an appearance.
