Sanitation OKs 2015 budget

Without any public comments from citizens, the Cortez Sanitation District unanimously approved its 2015 budget this week.

Adopted on Monday, Dec. 8, total CSD enterprise fund operating expenditures in 2015 are $1,567,560, down slightly over the current year’s budget of $1,580,483. Next year’s total operating revenue, collected from customer service fees, is projected at $2,021,588.

CSD’s total repair and replacement expenditures for 2015 are proposed at $2,153,246, which will be supplemented by unrestricted surplus funds. The largest expenditure, slightly more than $2 million, will be earmarked for sewer line construction.

Next year’s projected revenues in the repair and replacement budget total $1,184,790, a majority of which includes a new Colorado Department of Local Affairs grant.

CSD’s expenditures in the debt service fund budget totals $969,354. Projected fund revenues total $910,346. CSD expects to collect more than $870,00 from property taxes with a mill levy of 9.959 in 2015, up from 9.820 in 2014.
