Wednesday, Nov. 26

3:15 p.m. Deputies responded to Centennial park for a report of a fight. A man was arrested after several observers said he hit a woman in the arm,causing her to fall to the ground. When asked about it he said, “I didn’t hit no woman.” The woman’s arm was inspected and a fresh bruise was forming. The man was arrested and issued a summons for alleged domestic violence and 3rd degree assault.

5:00 p.m. A woman was arrested at the Cortez Walmart after it was reported she had a warrant for her arrest. She was first identified by an off-duty police officer.

Thursday, Nov. 27

4:32 p.m. Officers were asked to respond to the Cortez Public Library for a fight in progress. One man was arrested after it was learned he had walked up to two other men and allegedly started punching them. One of the men fell off the patio and needed medical attention. The man arrested was issued a summons for alleged third-degree assault.

4:51 p.m. A flatbed work truck with tools was reported stolen from a Cortez plastering company.

Sunday, Nov. 30

12:57 a.m. A young man was arrested for driving under the influence and underage drinking .

10:47 a.m. A man was arrested in the 10 block of N. Park Street for consuming alcohol in the park. He had trouble standing and tried to conceal a bottle of Listerine Antiseptic under some leaves. The man refused to cooperate with the officer or state his address or phone number for the officer, but when the officer poured out the Listerine he said, “Awe, why you do that?”

8:34 p.m. A man was issued a summons for the alleged possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and speeding near the 400 block of S. Sligo Street. He was released into the custody of his mother and his car was towed because he did not have proof of insurance.

9:49 p.m. A man and a woman pulled over near the 1500 block of E. 7th street for speeding. When the two were contacted, the officer recognized the man as having a warrant for his arrest and the woman, eventually admitted to having taken methamphetamines. There was methamphetamines in the car and a K9 alerted that there were methamphetamines in the woman’s purse. The two were both taken to jail.

10:30 p.m. A man reported that his Subaru Outback was stolen from the driveway of his friend’s house. The man told the officer he left the vehicle unlocked and the key on the dash. The vehicle was entered into a stolen car database.

Tuesday, Dec. 2

11:09 p.m. A woman was arrested outside City Market for what at first was a “dog running at large” warrant. The fee for the “dog running at large” ticket was $57. The officer told the woman he would take her to jail. While searching the woman’s belongings, officers found a pipe, used to smoke methamphetamines, small bags, methamphetamine and a scale. In addition to the warrant, the woman was arrested for possession of amphetamines, attempt to sell amphetamines and possession of drug paraphernalia.
