Kids, demonstrate your free-throw skills at the 43rd annual Elks Hoop Shoot on Saturday, Dec. 6, at the Cortez Middle School gymnasium.
Registration is at noon, with opening ceremony at 12:45 p.m. Competition starts at 1 p.m.
There will be categories for girls and boys ages 8-9, 10-11 and 12-13. Contestants will be grouped by age as of April 1, 2015 – kids born between April 1, 2002, and April 1, 2007, may compete. Proof of birthdate is required.
Kids 10-13 shoot from the regulation foul line; younger children stand 4 feet in front of that line.
Awards will be for first through third place, and winners advance to the district contest in Durango on Sunday, Feb. 8, 2015.
The Hoop Shoot is sponsored by Cortez Elks Lodge No. 1789.
