Giving Tree applications due

It's that time of the year: If your family is in need of assistance this holiday season, please complete the Giving Tree form and return it to the Mancos Valley Bank by the due date, Wednesday, Nov. 26. All information is confidential.

2014 Rudolph Run set for Dec. 5

The Rudolph Run, which is part of the Old Fashioned Christmas Celebration in Mancos, is Friday, Dec. 5. Registration is at 6 p.m., and the race is at 6:30 p.m.

It's a one-mile run, with lots of prizes involved.

At 7 p.m. Santa arrives, and there is a tree lighting at Pioneer Plaza, Grand and Mesa avenues.

Santa will pass out goodie bags from the Mancos Ladies Auxiliary.

After Santa, the animated classic movie "How the Grinch stole Christmas" will show at the Community Center. Treats will be served.

Money raised during the run is matched by Mullikin Physical Therapy, and will be split between the Mancos Student Council and the Mancos Giving Tree. Fees are $3 in advance at Mancos Town Hall, Mancos Schools or Mullikin.Fees at race time will be $5.

Parents Focus Group planned for Tuesday

There will be a parent focus group Dec. 2 at 4:30 p.m. at Town Hall.

The meeting is to discuss ideas for upcoming programs for kids. What people like to see and still continue to do.

Don't forget to shop small on Saturday

While the big businesses dominate on Friday, Nov. 28. Mancos wants to remind everyone to shop small businesses on Nov. 29. By shopping or dining at a small business, you are showing support for small businesses while reinvesting in the community you call home.

FSA accepting applications

Montezuma County Farm Service Agency is accepting applications for 2015 non-insured Assistance Program coverage for non-insurable perennial crops. The sales closing date for alfalfa (forage & seed), grass (forage, seed, grazing), honey (table), mixed forage (two or more varieties/forage, grazing) and Native Grass (grazing) is Dec. 1, 2014.

Producers will pay a non-refundable coverage fee of $250 per crop per administrative county, $750 per producer per administrative county or not more than a total of $2,250 per producer for all counties. Payment for coverage and signature requirements must be received by the sales closing date. Late applications for coverage will not be accepted. Producers may visit 628 West Fifth St., Cortez to apply for coverage.

Conservation district to review budget

The Mancos Conservation District will be reviewing and adopting their annual 2015 budget on Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2014, at 4 p.m. at the Mancos Rural Water Co., 604 Bauer Ave., Mancos, during their regular monthly meeting. The public is invited.
