Friday, Nov. 7

11:40 a.m. An officer responded to the duck pond in Centennial Park for a welfare check. When the officer arrived, he observed a female lying on the ground and two males were laughing at her and then one of the males stood over the woman and starting hitting her in the head multiple times. As the officer approached the male stopped and said he was trying to wake up the female. The male was then taken into custody. The male then started yelling obscenities at the officer and refused to get in the back of a patrol vehicle. After refusing several times to get into the car, an officer pulled out his stun gun and told the man if he didn’t get into the car, he would shoot him with the stun gun, the man then got into the patrol vehicle. Meanwhile, ambulance crews were on the way to check on the woman, who was highly intoxicated and officers could get her to answer questions, but they didn’t make sense.

Saturday, Nov. 8

12:15 p.m. A woman was reportedly in the road and had nearly been struck by a vehicle. When the officer arrived he found a woman stumbling in the middle of West Juniper Street and she was having difficulty maintaining balance. When the officer asked her if she was OK, she fell into the officer’s arms and sobbed, “Help me!” Medics arrived on scene, once cleared by Southwest Memorial Hospital, the woman was taken to jail for suspected intoxicated pedestrian in the roadway.

Sunday, Nov. 9

1:20 a.m. An officer responded to the 600 block of E. 2nd Street for a disturbance in progress. When the officer arrived he observed a small child with blood on his face and a knot on the center of his forehead, the mother also had scrapes on cuts on her face. An arrest warrant was issued for the husband.

9:11 p.m. An officer was on East Man Street when a car traveling without its headlights on was observed. When the officer pulled over the vehicle and contacted the driver and asked for the appropriate documentation, it was determined the woman had a warrant for her arrest. She as arrested without incident.

Monday, Nov. 10

2:47 p.m. An officer took a report that a man lost his gold coins while staying in a local hotel. The man said the coins, valued at $12,000, were taken from a hidden pocket in his carry-on type bag. The man said they could have been lost or stolen at any time during his trip. No other information on the case was available.

Tuesday, Nov. 11

12:13 p.m. A clothing store owner on Main Street reported that a woman had taken clothes from her store without paying for them. An officer reviewed the surveillance tapes and recognized the woman on the tape. He contacted the woman and the woman took the clothes back and apologized to the owner of the store. The woman was then issued a summons for shoplifting and banned from ever entering the store again.

5:03 p.m. An officer responded to a report of an assault at the Bridge Shelter, a man advised that he was a victim and that his wife had jumped up and hit him in the head and pulled his hair. The man advised that both he and his wife had been drinking all day. The wife told officers that her husband had been calling her lots of names and that it made her angry. The woman was taken to jail and was issued a summons for suspected 3rd degree assault and domestic violence.

6:30 p.m. A local pizza delivery person had contacted the police department after delivering pizza to a local motel. When the delivery person tried to give the pizza to the woman in the room, the woman was allegedly intoxicated and allegedly tried to give away her children. The woman in the room reportedly told the delivery person that she could have one of the kids because they were “naughty” and wouldn’t listen and then said “take him right now.” Officers determined the woman in the room, after checking with dispatch, had an active municipal warrant. She was arrested on the warrant and the children were left in the custody of a male that was with the woman and all children appeared to be fine, according to the report.

Wednesday, Nov. 12

7:50 p.m. Officers responded to the 200 block of W. Montezuma for a report of a domestic disturbance.

9:22 p.m. The police department receive a report of a vehicle theft from the 400 block of Lakeside Drive. A man reported his Jeep had been taken while he was at work. There are no suspects or leads at this time, but after running the name of the man through dispatch who reported his Jeep stolen, it was determined he had a municipal warrant and he was arrested.
