Since arriving at Dolores High School four years ago, Eli Brown has distinguished himself as the heart and soul of the Bears football program.

The senior manager has inspired teammates with his words and assisted coaches by providing football insights.

"Eli Brown is the spirit of Dolores High School football," said Bears head coach Chris Trusler. "He's a very integral part of the team, and his dedication to the team and the love that he has for each of our players is outstanding."

In addition to providing water to coaches and players, Brown takes attendance before every practice. He also provides encouragement to teammates during practices and games.

A history buff with vast knowledge of Abraham Lincoln, Brown said his favorite classes are English and physical education. He plans to attend Fort Lewis College after graduation and pursue degree in business and exercise science. He'd also like to coach the football team.

Asked what he'll remember most about managing the team, Brown said that the 28-19 homecoming victory over John Mall this season stands out.

"I will always remember my very last homecoming game," said Brown. "We usually win on homecoming, and last year we didn't, and I was not very happy. It was great to get the win this year."

The senior said the Bears and Dolores will always remain close to his heart.

"The majority of people in Dolores know you," he said. "It's a great place to be."

Brown's thoughts on the seniors

Mikeal Ford: 'He's very fast and can carry the ball.'
Kellen Gatzke: 'I've been friends with Kellen Gatzke since my freshman year. He can blitz like crazy.'

Clarence Dennison: 'He does a good job at nose guard.'
