I am writing to ask why the MCHS Cheer and Dance teams were not acknowledged. As a parent and a fan of these girls, I am offended, and the girls were saddened by this oversight.
They are out there at every game –rain snow or shine – cheering on the team and entertaining the crowd. They support all the school sports, organize and decorate for school dances, spend countless hours of their free time volunteering in some capacity for MCHS and essentially are the spirit of the school. These girls are subject to all the rules and eligibility requirements that all athletes are: They train hard, starting at 6 a.m. and again after school until 6 p.m. They are dedicated, they are awesome, they deserve to be acknowledged.
