Dolores Elementary Principal Sherri Maxwell was overwhelmed with gratitude last week.

Here is what she wrote: "Feeling grateful is one of the character words we study at Dolores Elementary School. This week we have so many reasons to be grateful for our students, teachers and parents. Last week we moved in to our new classrooms. It was quite an undertaking! I sent out an SOS to our community and the response was overwhelming.

"The PTA and other parent volunteers supplied movers and shakers. The movers helped empty out the old classrooms and carry everything to the new classrooms. The shakers kept our students engaged and learning throughout the move. One parent even brought her trailer, saving us a lot of hallway trips! She also helped organize the new supply closet. Four States Tire picked up donated shelves, delivered them to school, set them up and helped us move the supply closet to the new storeroom."

Maxwell was pleased to announce that students occupied the new classrooms as of Monday morning.

"This project has truly been a community effort from start to finish. Thanks to everyone who helped out. You made our move a true celebration of community," Maxwell wrote.

Fourth-grade field trip

Students reported a great time at their overnight field trip last week to Crow Canyon Archaeological Center. Students learned many things about archaeology.

Most seemed excited because it was an overnight trip.
