It’s news to me. I read it in the Cortez Journal on Sept. 26. I would like to thank Paul Gray, probation officer for convicted sex offender Lucas B. Keck, Det. Jim Kingery of the Cortez Police Department and the Journal itself, for giving myself and my business, the Ute Mountain Motel at 531 South Broadway, Cortez, a big, unnecessary and unwarranted black eye in the community and costing me many dollars and much anxiety and discomfort. I only hope that I can return the favor. Rest assured that I have never seen, heard from, nor intend to provide housing for Keck near Mesa Elementary, Cortez Middle School or Montezuma Cortez High School.
Perhaps Kingery can secure him housing in a more suitable area and the Journal can try to report only the facts.
When Mr. Kingery returns from vacation, perhaps he can finally notify the community of Lucas’ location or relocation, perhaps the Journal will see fit to print this letter as well as a nice retraction of the error.
