Panther fans unite!!! This is a heartfelt request for everybody in Cortez to rally around our high school football team and other sports teams. Our football team is ranked in the state’s top 10 and is playing great football and yet at our last home game, on a beautiful night, the stands did not appear to be even half full. The other Panther teams have also been very competitive although I sure hope they get put into the same league as the football team that is finally playing schools their size. I have been attending the football games for the last few years here and I know that the fans have not always had a lot to cheer about, but the players have always played their hearts out and been good sports.
We must also thank our coaches who have done a marvelous job with the team. Plus with the fantastic success of the middle school’s A and B football teams, the future has never been brighter. And thanks to the Journal for its awesome coverage. We really appreciate it. If I may just one request. Please include more team and individual stats in the stories, such as the opposing team’s record and how our offense and defense stack up, etc.
Anyway, we live in an incredibly vibrant and close-knit community. Let’s all come together and show the support and encouragement that our local school teams and the Panther football team deserves. There is only one home game remaining on Oct. 24. Let’s pack Panther Park!
