The stop sign at Riverside Avenue and Fourth Street.

The hard-working crew on the spot along Railroad Avenue is still working on completing the sidewalk project.

They've come a long way, and the sidewalk is complete nearly up to the Pony Expresso business.

Although the construction has caused a few headaches, having dry feet is worth the wait.

Time to catch fall colors?

I am told that a drive into the mountains is well worth every bit of gas. This year, it is reported, the trees are brilliant. For some reason, in addition to the brilliant yellow we all know and expect from the Colorado mountains, we also are seeing oranges and even some red. Let's hope the latest windstorm didn't knock all the beautiful leaves down.

Ryan Hill benefit goes well

The Lewis-Arriola Fire Department's Frito Pie Benefit for Ryan Hill was a big success, I hear. The benefit was to raise money for Hill, a local teenager, who is fighting lymphoma. I am told the community came out in full force and that the desert auction went off well. Some cupcakes sold for as much as $200. A cherry pie went for $70.

It's wonderful that a community can show so much support for a girl who is fighting so hard.

The money raised will help pay for Hill's medical and travel expenses.

The Pony Expresso in Dolores is continuing its fundraiser. All ice cream cones will be $1, and Pony Expresso says all the money will be passed on to the family. A local supplier donated the cones, and the Pony Expresso is donating the ice cream.

Remember the stop sign

I hear that a few of us still have problems stopping at the new stop sign on Fourth Street and Riverside Avenue. Let's be safe out there.

Christmas Bazaar going fast

The booths at the Annual Christmas Bazaar at the Dolores Community Center Dec. 6 are going fast, according to Ruby Gonzalez, organizer of the event. If you want to book a booth at this fun-filled, art-filled, gift-filled and craft-filled event this year, be sure to call Ruby at 882-7717.
