Dolores Elementary Principal Sherri Maxwell is excited about the upcoming Schoolarama. Here is what she told the Dolores Star recenlty:

"I am very excited to announce a wonderful evening of fun and learning for you and your entire family! We are hosting an event called Schoolarama on Nov. 6 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. We will serve dinner at 5 p.m. and then you will have the opportunity to learn all kinds of neat things about our school and learning. Every teacher has prepared a fun or informative activity for the evening. Families will get to choose the activities and events that interest them. Mr. Maxwell is going to make an appearance to teach families how to play cribbage! Community organizations will also be there to share information.

The class with the best student attendance will get a special treat from Mrs. Maxwell and there will be amazing door prizes such as tickets to the Durango Train."

This is an event our local elementary families shouldn't' miss.

Moving day is nearly here

The day is nearly here and the staff at the Dolores Elementary School is excited. The new classrooms in the elementary wing are expected to be finished next week and teachers will move into them. The move is expected on Wednesday and Thursday.

I am a little jealous of those classrooms and the beautiful solar tubes installed in them - they're pretty high-tech.

Pickup donated

The Dolores School District Nutrition department was having a bit of a hard time getting trash from the cafeteria to the back of the campus where the trash bins are located since the new additions have been added to the school. Nutrition Services Director Chuck Soukup was excited to announce at the last school board meeting that Skanska donated a vehicle, a retired fleet 2006 F250 pickup to the cafeteria department, so that they could haul trash away easier.

Soukup credited his staff for solving the problem and thanked Skanska.

PTA is rocking

The Dolores Elementary School has been working hard making money for the school. So far, the school PTA has earned $9,000. Way to go PTA!
