Standing 5-feet-five and weighing 145 pounds, Guy Wallace has never been the largest player on the Dolores High School football team. Thanks to his intensity, wiry strength and strong leadership skills however, the Bears senior excels on and off the field.

A four-year varsity football player, Wallace has made a name for himself playing cornerback, linebacker and fullback.

This season, Wallace has made 37 tackles and two interceptions. The soon-to-be graduate has also scored one rushing touchdown and one receiving touchdown on the season.

"The season has been going really good," said Wallace. I got switched to linebacker, which I enjoy a lot more than corner. I've been at fullback all year."

As impactful as Wallace has been on the field, the senior has been equally influential off it, mentoring young teammates and setting a solid example in the weight room.

"Guy Wallace is the vocal leader of the team," said Dolores head coach Chris Trusler. "He's also the strongest guy we have on the field. He was the top lifter in our Lift-a-Thon and lifted 1,115 pounds between three lifts."

Wallace also has been a good student, earning many A's and B's.

In addition, Wallace continuously contributes on his family's farm, where he works in the field and helps raise cattle.

"I do a lot of work at home off the field," said Wallace. "I enjoy working around the house and helping out on the farm."

With his high school graduation just over seven months away, Wallace is planing a career as a pilot.

"In two weeks, I'm going down to look at (Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University) in Prescott, Ariz.," said Wallace. "I'm excited to go check it out and I'm going to try to go there."

Before attending college, Wallace plans to wrestle this winter, play baseball in the spring and enjoy his final months in the town that he calls home.

"I know that I couldn't live in a city," said Wallace. "It's nice to live somewhere small where you know everybody and everybody knows you."
