There is no school on Friday, Sept. 12, the first staff-development Friday. Last year, the school board approved a calendar that ended early-release Wednesdays, used for staff collaboration.

Teachers will spend Friday in a "professional learning community." The calendar committee developed the calendar so students have more instructional time and teachers have more development time. The calendar can be found at doloresschoools.org.

The No School Fridays: Sept. 12, 26; Oct. 10, 24; Nov. 7; Dec. 5; Jan. 5 (Monday), Jan. 16; Feb. 6, 13; March 6, 20; April 10, 24; May 8, 29.

Homecoming announced

Dolores High School has announced that homecoming week will be Sept. 28 through Oct. 4. The theme is Cartoon Mania. The Powderpuff game will be Oct. 1 at 7 p.m., and there will be a bonfire at Joe Rowell Park at 8 p.m. The parade will be Oct. 3 at 3 p.m., and the game will start at 7 p.m. Friday.
