Rocky Moss, director of the Dolores Chamber of Commerce, is looking to improve communication among businesses in Dolores.

"I would like to get together a retail enhancement association," she said recently.

Moss is hoping to spend the winter forming the structure of the group that would team up to make Dolores look awesome and to let everyone else know about it. Moss said a big part of letting the world know about Dolores lies in mastering social media.

"If someone drives through town and doesn't see any reviews of businesses on their smart phone, they will keep on driving. That is a fact today," Moss said.

Moss hopes to help local business master social media.

Chamber gears up for Fall Fest

The Dolores Chamber of Commerce is also gearing up for this year's Fall Festival. The Dolores Chamber of Commerce Fall Festival will be Saturday, Sept. 27 at Flander's Park.

The festival this year is from 10 to 4 p.m., so that it won't compete with the Cortez Farmers Market, Moss explained.

"Farmers can pickup up when the market closes in Cortez and head over here," she said.

There will have some exciting local bands booked to play the event.

Visitor Center's on winter hours

In other Dolores Chamber of Commerce news, the Visitor Center has now switched to its winter hours. The Visitor Center, 201 Railroad Ave., will be open from 9 a.m. to noon every day, except Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays, during which it will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Wolfs win raffle quilt

Last week, we included pictures of some beautiful quilts and listed all the prize winners in the show. But what we didn't say who won the Dolores Mountain Quilters raffle quilt. I know many of you were waiting with crossed fingers to get the call. The winners were Sandi and Gerry Wolf of Cortez, just in time for our cooler evenings.
