Stevens earns degree from Adams State

Skyler Stevens, of Mancos, graduated cum laude from the Adams State University during the spring 2014 commencement on Saturday, May 10, in Plachy Hall. Stevens received a bachelor's degree in nursing. Adams State awarded 333 undergraduate degrees, Adams State's largest graduating class ever, in the spring ceremony.

Adams State alumna Cathy Mullens, the first woman to be elected a district attorney in Colorado, gave the undergraduate commencement address, "Great Stories: Right Here, Right Now." At the end of her address, Mullens said: "Professors here taught me how to think critically, to analyze a problem, to present a cogent argument, and to stand up in front of people and talk. Because Adams State University is an inclusive, rather than exclusive school, I was given an opportunity to pursue my dreams. To live, not just visit. My great story began here. Yours does, too. Right here, right now."

Mancos graduate earns radiologic tech degree

A 2012 graduate of Mancos High School, Blackburn is the daughter of Justin and Diane Ewing of Clifton, Ariz., and granddaughter of Roma Ewing of Mancos.
