Agricultural economist joins Region 9 Loan Committee
Livia Cloman Lynch, Ph.D., has joined the Region 9 Economic Development District’s Business Loan Fund Committee. Lynch has degrees in agriculture economics, agribusiness and a doctorate in applied economics.
Lynch has worked as an agricultural economist and business professor in Iowa, Georgia and at Colorado State University before returning to her family cattle ranch in Pagosa Springs. She is a business owner and has been active in the Southwest Colorado United Way Board of Directors and Pagosa Springs Rotary Club, where she is serving her second term as president. She has been involved in education since returning to Pagosa Springs with the Archuleta County School Advisory Committees, serving as executive director of the Archuleta County Education Center and Coordinator for Student Services for Southwest Colorado Community College.
The loan committee is comprised of two representatives from each of the five counties in Southwest Colorado, plus two at-large positions.

Region 9 hires administrative assistant
Stephani Burditt has joined the Region 9 Economic Development District of Southwest Colorado’s staff in June as a part-time administrative assistant.
Burditt grew up in Oklahoma and graduated from Columbia College in Chicago with a degree in management. She is working toward her MBA. Her experience includes work as a production and administrative assistant before moving to Durango last year.

Pagosa Springs to host geothermal symposium
The 2014 Pagosa Verde Symposium, a two-day think tank, brings notable names in geothermal development and greenhouse agriculture to Pagosa Springs on Aug. 21 and 22.
The Pagosa Springs Center for the Arts hosts the Thursday presentations from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.. Archuleta County’s CSU Extension Office is the site of Friday’s participatory workshops from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
