Mesa Verde Gardeners encourage participation
Mesa Verde Gardeners encourage all amateur gardeners or arrangers to participate in the Montezuma County Fair Horticulture/Agriculture/Design Show, July 31 to Aug. 2.
There will be lots of prizes for best entries in every class. Classes include: Flowers, fruits and vegetables, foliage, herbs, houseplants, educational displays, and floral design.
Entries will be accepted on Wednesday, July 30 from 3-8 p.m. Floral design and educational entries require pre-registration by July 29th to reserve a spot. Call Dayna Herrick at 570-9048.

Center wants your input on health care
The Southwest Center for Independence, a local nonprofit that helps people with disabilities to live well in our community, has teamed up with Colorado Cross-Disability Coalition and the Rocky Mountain Health Plans to meet with community members to hear how you want health care is delivered.
If you or a family member is on Medicaid, we want to know what you think about your health care and about your services.

EMT training scheduled for August
The Emergency Services Department at Southwest Health System is offering an EMT course that meets the requirements of the emergency Medical Services Section of the Health Facilities and Emergency Medical Services Division and will prepare students for the National Registry examination and Colorado State EMT certification.
Instruction will include 180 hours of classroom time and 50 hours of clinical rotations in the hospital and ambulance.
Classes will be 6 to 10 p.m. on Wednesdays, Thursdays, occasional Mondays, and some Saturdays from 8:30 – 4:30 p.m. in Cortez. The course begins Aug. 21 and concludes in December. Deadline to enroll is Aug. 11. Tuition is $1,000 plus course materials, immunizations, background check, and drug screening.

Forest Service looks to fill RAC
The U.S. Forest Service is seeking to fill openings on the San Juan Resource Advisory Committee (RAC).
The Secure Rural Schools Act authorizes the use of RACs as a mechanism for local community collaboration with federal land managers in recommending projects on federal lands. The RAC consists of 15 members representing a wide range of interests,.
