Theft of marijuana and laptop

The victim of the burglary said he left his home at 6 p.m. the night before and his brother arrived home at 1:30 a.m., and it was during this time the burglary occurred. He told the deputy both he and his brother held medical marijuana cards and have several plants at their house. When his brother returned home, the front door was open. The latch on the door could be pushed open. They noticed several of their marijuana plants were missing or damaged. While cleaning up, they noticed a laptop computer also was missing. They told the deputy some people were angry because they would not sell them marijuana because it is for personal use only. But they did not tell the deputy who it could have been. There was no evidence to collect since the area had been cleaned and no suspects as the brothers would not name anyone.
Menacing/Violation of Fire Ban
Sunday, July 20
1:20 p.m. A deputy went to investigate a reported structure fire on Road 36. When the deputy arrived, he noted the fire was not at the house but in the field behind the house. A sergeant told the homeowner there is a fire ban currently in effect. The homeowner became irate with the sergeant, cursing at him and saying he did start the fire and did not care about the fire ban. He also told the sergeant to arrest him. The deputy attempted to speak with the homeowner, who was still visibly upset and who said they should just take him to jail. They attempted to talk to the homeowner again about the importance of following the fire ban, and he said he has lived here for years and does not care. He began to clench his fists and walk toward the deputy. The deputy told him to stop where he was. The man again said, “Just take me to jail.” He then began advancing toward the deputy while pulling a pocket knife out of his pocket. The sergeant noticed this, and they were able to take control of the man and place handcuffs on him. The man was arrested for menacing and violation of the fire ban.
Alcohol consumption/ Criminal Trespass

1:23 a.m. While on patrol in Dolores, a deputy received information there were people trying to break into a restaurant. The deputy pulled into the parking lot and began to walk around the north side of the building when he saw a door that appeared to be open. He then heard something moving around on the other side of a wooden fence to the south of the building. The deputy identified himself and received no response. Other deputies arrived to assist and checked the building. Deputies went to speak with the person who reported the possible break-in when they saw a juvenile male hiding between the reporting person’s house and the restaurant. The juvenile said he had just been hanging out and had not broken into the restaurant and he would not snitch on his friends who had. The deputy asked him if he and his friends had been the ones to be causing acts of mischief around town; he said they might have been. The deputy then placed the juvenile in handcuffs and put him in the back of the patrol car. The deputies later located the other juvenile male, who had alcohol on his breath, and detained him. The owner of the restaurant arrived and said nothing was missing and tehre was no sign that anyone had entered. Both juveniles were released to their parents. A summons for second-degree criminal trespass and illegal consumption of alcohol by an underage person was issued to one of the boys.

Thursday, July 17
12:13 p.m. The Cortez Fire Chief reported an RV had been stolen from a fire station. He told the deputy one of the RVs located on the property was missing, he had last seen it on July 11 and no one had permission to take it. The value of the RV is $2,000. He also said a woman had called him asking if she could have the RV for free. He told her it was not for sale. The RV is used for training purposes. There are no other suspects at this time, and the investigation will continue as information becomes available.
