Award-winning singer/songwriter Tim Sullivan will be playing at 7 p.m. Saturday at the American Legion, 320 North Harrison St., in Cortez.
Sullivan began performing concerts across Oklahoma and surrounding states with his seven brothers and sisters at the age of six. As a teenager, he formed his first country band, which was named one of the 10 best bands in America in a national “Battle of the Bands” search competition. After graduating from Oklahoma University, which he attended on a baseball scholarship, Sullivan moved to Los Angeles to pursue his singing career.
Since those early years, he has appeared on stage with country stars such as Alan Jackson, Willie Nelson, Vince Gill, Glen Campbell and Tammy Wynette. Tim has also been a guest artist with the LA Philharmonic Orchestra and featured performer on NBC’s Today Show.
He has appeared at venues throughout the United States and abroad including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center’s Rose Hall, Broadway’s Town Hall, Will Rogers Coliseum in Fort Worth, and the World Equestrian Center in Sydney, Australia.
Sullivan won Songwriter of the Year Award in Massachusetts for his song Dance in the Rain and wrote the theme song for the 2003 Boston Red Sox Cowboy Up.
Tim also co-wrote and starred in a one-man musical called Diary of a Songwriter that he has performed across the country and off Broadway to rave reviews.
