Registration will be Aug. 6 and 7 at the Dolores Schools.

Also just a reminder to parents and students, the school calendar does look a bit different this year. The school board adopted a calendar earlier this year, and it does away with early-release Wednesdays. The school days will start for the Elementary School at 8:15 a.m. and end at 3:35 p.m. For the middle and high schools; classes will start at 8:05 and end and 3:35, every day, except for the occasional Friday, which students will have off. Teachers, however, will use the Fridays for PLC time, or Professional Learning Communities. During this time, teachers will work independently or in groups towards common goals to improve student success. The first Friday PLC Day is Sept. 12, followed by two in October: Oct. 10 and 24. Please see the Final 2014/15 School Calendar on the District's Web Site at doloresschools.org. In total, there are 15 Fridays marked as PLC Days or Work Days for teachers.

There's still time to cash in on reading logs

Kathleen Butler says that students still have time to turn in their reading logs and will get reading bucks that they can spend on various items at the library for turning them in. Also, don't forget that a full reading log gets you an ice cream at the Dolores Food Market and will qualify you for prizes when you get back to school. Don't forget to read, read, read.
