I've been getting inquiries from people who want to be vendors and people who want to be in the Mancos Days parade. I have sent these inquiries to Town Hall or had them call 970-533-7725.

Now I am receiving inquiries about all the activities for the weekend. Mancos will definitely be busy, and so will the VC. The street at Bauer and Main will be closed to eastbound traffic because of the softball tournament activity. However, the Visitor Center will be open. The VC will have extended hours on Saturday and Sunday to accommodate all the special events. We will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Sunday.

The Mancos Valley Arts Council (MVAC) will set up the old time, western photo booth in front of the jail house in Boyle Park after the parade. The digital photos will be processed in the VC on Saturday and also for two hours on Sunday and made ready for purchase and pick up at the Visitor Center. If you show up at the jail house in flip flops, tank top and shorts, don't worry. There will be lots of old-time outfits for you to borrow for your photo op.

You will definitely want to stop by the VC and check out the 81328 Perspective photo show sponsored by MVAC. The theme this year is "Cats Rule." Come check out how your friend's and neighbor's cats rule their households. This is a fun show. These cats definitely show off their personalities. There will be a reception and open house on Thursday, July 24 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the VC. Stop by for some refreshment and a few laughs.

The Mancos Common Press folks are still looking for volunteers to help with an open house at the Mancos Times Building on Saturday, July 26 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. with one- or two-hour shifts. This is an opportunity to showcase the restoration work that has been accomplished in the Mancos Times Building.

The old Cranston Press works now, thanks to the efforts of professor Matt Neff from the University of Pennsylvania. If you are someone who has any connection to the Mancos Times through your own family history or if you are simply interested in preserving the history of the Mancos Valley, please, volunteer by calling the Visitor Center at 970-533-7434 or send an email to chamber@mancosvalley.com. We'll see you during Mancos Days.
