Burglary

Monday, July 14

4:10 a.m. A Mancos marshal responded to a business break-in alarm at Beacon Wellness. Upon arrival, the officer found a window open and the drywall that had been installed behind it had been broken through, leaving enough space for a person to crawl through. The owner of the business responded, and the interior of the building was checked. No one was inside at the time. The owner reported four marijuana plants were destroyed and another taken, along with an unknown quantity of loose marijuana leaves. The reported value of the items taken and destroyed exceeded $8,000. The business has a video system inside and outside of the building, and that video was reviewed and provided images of two teenage boys. Personnel from the Mancos Marshal office identified the boys seen in the video as two 13-year-old Mancos residents. Both boys were charged with second-degree burglary, criminal mischief, criminal trespass and theft.
