The town of Mancos, the Gateway to Mesa Verde, is preparing to open up the town to locals and visitors alike for the 55th Annual Mancos Days festivities.

Have you done your parade entry form? Is your vendor application completed? Do you have your western outfits ready for the old time photo booth at the "Old Mancos Jail?" Get ready for lots of fun with softball tournaments, water fights on Main, live music and great food.

The Mancos Common Press (MCP) is going to open its doors during Mancos Days. The steering committee for the MCP needs volunteers to open up the building and share information about the Mancos Times Tribune and the historic press within the building. Here is a great opportunity to learn a little history about Mancos and share that with visitors to the Mancos Times building. If you would like to volunteer, call the VC at 970-533-7434 or send an e-mail to chamber@mancosvalley.com.

Mancos now has round-trip bus service to Grand Junction. You can pick up your ride in front of the Visitor Center (VC) at 101 E. Bauer. Look for the green and white Road Runner Stage Lines sign in the VC window. You must have a reservation for the driver to know to make the stop in Mancos. Call 970-533-0389. Road Runner Stage Lines who is providing the service is operated by the Southern Ute Community Action Programs (SUCAP) in partnership with Greyhound Lines, CDOT and the Federal Transit Administration.

Other activities at the VC include the Mancos Valley Arts Council exhibit titled the "Western Heritage Show." Stop by and check out this wonderful exhibit that pays tribute to our past. The 81328 Perspective opens on Thursday, July 24 at the VC. This year's theme is "The Cat's Meow." Everyone is invited to the VC from 5 pm to 7 pm to meet the local photo enthusiasts who took the pictures and to see the final results of their efforts. This should prove to be fun and entertaining. Refreshments will be served.
