American Airlines will introduce a seasonal daily nonstop flight between Los Angeles International Airport and Durango-La Plata County Airport in June 2021.
“American Airlines’ decision to expand service at the Durango-La Plata County Airport highlights the resilience of our market and the enduring demand for air service in Southwest Colorado,” DRO Aviation Direction Tony Vicari said.
American will operate one daily nonstop flight between Durango and Los Angeles beginning June 3 through Aug. 16 on a 70-seat Bombardier CRJ-700 aircraft.
The flight will provide Southwest Colorado passengers direct access to Los Angeles and Southern California, as well as improved connections up and down the West Coast, Hawaii, Asia and Australia, Vicari said.
“This route, in addition to our existing service from Durango to Dallas-Ft. Worth and Phoenix, provides customers in the Four Corners region with access to the destinations they want to travel to most,” said Brian Znotins, American’s vice president of network planning, in a news release issued by the airport.
The airport is served by American and United, which offer year-round daily nonstop routes to Dallas-Fort Worth, Denver and Phoenix, along with added American seasonal service to Los Angeles.
