Veterans deserve their memorials

I am a member of the American Legion Post No. 75 Honor Guard. We conduct funerals and memorials for all honorably discharged veterans if requested.

We were requested to conduct a memorial service for a veteran on June 14, 2014, at the St. Barnabas Church. When we arrived at the church, we were informed we could not conduct one in the church; we would have to do it outside the church.

We have conducted services all around the Four Corners area and have always have been allowed to conduct our services in the church.

I think this shows complete contempt for all veterans.

I do not know if this is the policy of the whole church or just locally, but I think they should be informed that if it wasn’t for the veterans, they would not have a church or be allowed to express their form of religion.
