Virginia Susan "Sue" Weller, 75, of Bozeman, Montana, passed away of lung cancer on Saturday, June 21, 2014.
Born in Cortez, Colorado, on Jan. 9, 1939, Sue was the second child of Clare (Wagner) and Wayne Bauer and baby sister to Ann (Bauer) McGregor. Her early years were spent in Southwest Colorado, helping with family chores, spending time outdoors and living a rural kid's life. She often recollected her time living at a ranger station in the Animas Valley north of Durango, Colorado, when her father worked for the Forest Service. In 1957, Sue graduated from Mancos High School and moved to California to work in the travel industry. She returned to Colorado, where she worked as a bookkeeper and lived in a boarding house on Pearl Street in Denver. It was there that she met Gary Weller, whom she married. The couple moved to Idaho Falls, Idaho, where they raised three children.
Sue was a strong, independent woman whose integrity and loyalty touched anyone with whom she crossed paths. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, spending time with her schnoodle, Maggie May, and, most of all she enjoyed her children. She will be greatly missed and never forgotten by family and friends.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Clare (Wagner) and Wayne Bauer; firstborn daughter, Lori; nephew, Martin McGregor; and many uncles and aunts.
She is survived by her three children, Paula (Mark) Tedsen of Big Sky; Mark (Kari) Weller of Vancouver, Wash.; and Traci (Kevin Retchless) Weller of Bozeman; sister Anne (James) McGregor; grandchildren, Kacie Anderson, Ed Anderson, Connor Weller, Justin Weller; the father of her children, Gary T. (Annelle) Weller of Rigby, Idaho; nieces Cheryl (Sam) Slack and Michelle McGregor; nephew Michael McGregor and her beloved schnoodle, Maggie Mae.
A Rosary Service will be held at 11:30 a.m., and a Memorial Mass will be held at noon on Friday, June 27, 2014, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. After Memorial Mass, beginning at 2 p.m., the family welcomes friends to celebrate Sue's life and legacy at 15 Prospector Trail, Bozeman, MT 59718.
The family would like to thank Bozeman Deaconess Hospice and Dr. Kathryn Borgenicht for their gentle care of Sue. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Holy Rosary Catholic Church Building Fund or to Bozeman Deaconess Hospice.
