Wednesday, Dec. 30

12:03 a.m. A woman turned herself in on a warrant at Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.

11:37 a.m. A woman was cited on suspicion of careless driving, failure to notify police of a crash and expired registration in the 800 block of North Market Street. A woman allegedly crashed into another car and left the scene.

2: 57 p.m. A man was arrested on an active warrant and cited on suspicion of unlawful possession of a controlled substance in the 500 block of East Main Street. A search during the arrest revealed a controlled substance.

Thursday, Dec. 31

8:05 p.m. A woman was cited on suspicion of failure to provide proof of insurance, careless driving, failing to give information after damaging another vehicle, leaving the scene of an accident and failing to notify police of an accident. The woman admitted to crashing into another vehicle and leaving the scene, in the 300 block of South Beech Street.

8:11 a.m. A window was damaged in the 300 block of East Montezuma Avenue. The damage was believed to be caused by a BB gun.

9:12 a.m. A vehicle was reported stolen in the 600 block of South Broadway. A witness said several men took the car. The vehicle was located at a scrap yard and had been crushed. Several suspects are being investigated.

11:49 a.m. Fraudulent bank charges were reported in the 300 block of West Main Street.

9:13 p.m. An officer backed a patrol car into another vehicle in the 600 block of East Fourth Street.

10:42 p.m. A woman was arrested on a warrant after being reported for setting off fireworks in the 600 block of South Cedar Street.

Friday, Jan. 1

12:31 a.m. A woman was arrested on a warrant out of Utah in the 1900 block of Rolling Road.

1:06 a.m. Shots fired were reported in the 300 block of South Broadway. An investigation revealed the sound was likely fireworks.

2:57 a.m. A domestic disturbance was reported in the 300 block of East Arbecam Avenue. A woman allegedly bit a man twice, and the man allegedly hit her head against a vehicle. The aggressor could not be determined. No charges were filed.

9:57 a.m. Unemployment fraud was reported at Cortez Police Department, 508 E. Main St.

11:04 a.m. Mail theft was reported in the 300 block of North Market Street. Several pieces of plumbing equipment were taken.

12:09 p.m. A single-vehicle crash occurred in the 2200 block of East Main Street. There were no injuries.

3:14 p.m. A vehicle was stolen from a parking lot in the 1800 block of East Main Street. The vehicle was located on tribal land and had been set on fire. BIA officers will conduct an arson investigation. A suspect is being investigated.

Sunday, Jan. 3

2:24 a.m. A woman was arrested on suspicion of intimidating a witness and stalking in the 600 block of East Second Street. She sent harassing emails to an officer involved in another case where she allegedly assaulted two other officers.

3:02 p.m. A man was issued a summons on suspicion of criminal mischief in the 300 block of West Fifth Street. He allegedly damaged a neighbor’s vehicle by hitting it with a piece of wood.

4:23 p.m. A man was cited on suspicion of operating an uninsured vehicle, driving without a valid license and making a left turn from the wrong position in the 200 block of Pinon Drive. Making the turn caused a collision with another vehicle.

9:11 p.m. A woman reported threats made against her in the 1300 block of North Mildred Road. A man sent her threatening Facebook messages.

Monday, Jan. 4

12:50 p.m. Unemployment fraud was reported in the 500 block of East Fourth Street.

1:45 p.m. A woman backed into another vehicle in the 20 block of South Market Street. She left a note with her contact information, and an officer facilitated the exchange of information between drivers.

8:59 p.m. A man was cited on suspicion of third-degree trespass at Walmart, 1835 E. Main St. He had been previously trespassed from the property.

9:45 p.m. A man was cited on suspicion of third-degree assault in the 300 block of East Fourth Street. The man appeared to be under the influence of a controlled substance when he attacked a friend.

10:07 p.m. A bag containing a firearm was stolen from a vehicle in the 900 block of Memorial Drive.

Tuesday, Jan. 5

2:57 a.m. A man surrendered a firearm to police in the 400 block of Juniper Place. He was concerned he might shoot neighborhood dogs that kept running through the area.

8:56 a.m. Unemployment fraud was reported in the 100 block of West Montezuma Avenue.

9:30 a.m. A man was arrested on suspicion of intimidating a victim, criminal mischief and domestic violence in the 300 block of East Fourth Street. A residence was damaged by an altercation the previous night.

10:18 p.m. A man was cited on suspicion of disorderly conduct after yelling at utility workers and making threats with a piece of wood in the 300 block of West Fifth Avenue.

11:30 a.m. Unemployment fraud was reported in the 1000 block of North Mildred Road.

11:32 a.m. Unemployment fraud was reported in the 100 block of West Main Street.

1:25 p.m. A woman was cited on suspicion of trespassing in the 600 block of South Broadway. She had been previously trespassed from the property.

7:56 p.m. A man was arrested on suspicion of third-degree assault and domestic violence in the 200 block of East Seventh Street. He allegedly hit his ex-girlfriend in the face, threatened to kill her and punched her in the back when she tried to leave.
