I read with interest the Dec. 14 article, “Montezuma County installs EV charging station,” about the electric car charging station. So will the County Commissioners now install a gasoline pump to provide four gallons of free fuel to conventional autos? When did it get to be the commissioners’ job to subsidize a particular industry or a particular group of people?

Elon Musk is now worth tens of billions from a company subsidized by the federal government and many electric car buyers have received these subsidies. Now Montezuma County taxpayers are forced to subsidize the electric car owners’ fuel purchases.

Warm and fuzzy as it may feel, persons who may be struggling to get by should not pay for this service with their property taxes. It is just not right.
