PUEBLO – A Colorado man has died after police say he was shot in a moving vehicle in what authorities believe was a gang-related shooting.

Pueblo Police Sgt. Franklyn Ortega said officers were called to a shooting near the Pueblo mall, The Pueblo Chieftain reported.

Ortega said detectives are still trying to piece together exactly what transpired, but several suspects were detained. The suspects will not be identified until formally charged.

“What we understand is that there was some kind of disturbance. The disturbance became mobile, and during this mobile disturbance at least one shot was fired and we have one victim,” Ortega said, adding that it has not been deemed a drive-by shooting.

Frontage Road and the exit near the mall off U.S. Highway 50 were temporarily blocked, authorities said.

The Pueblo County coroner is expected to identify the man who was shot. It is unclear when his name will be released.

Police have urged anyone with information to contact local authorities.
