Art students at Southwest Colorado Community College's west campus will be honored with a show and reception at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 7.

The public is invited to attend and visit with the students about their work in the Student Commons area at the college, 33057 U.S. 160, seven miles east of Cortez. Refreshments will be served.

Cash prizes will be awarded to the drawing students for their best work during the semester. The art includes pencil and colored pencil drawings on a variety of subjects. Art teacher Bryan Kyle will introduce the students and discuss their work. The community is invited to attend and support the students in their efforts. This is the first art show since the art program has been revived.

This summer, two art classes will also be offered, a watercolor class taught by Henry Woolbert, and an Art Sampler class which will allow students to choose one month of basic sculpture and/or one month of beginning clay with Kyle. Another sculpture class will be offered in the fall with Kyle. These classes are open to the general public, as well as college students earning credits towards a degree.

Call Kyle at (970) 739-1260 for more information on the art show and summer and fall classes. Call Woolbert at (719) 937-1085 for more information on the summer watercolor class.
