The city of Cortez has received federal pandemic relief funds to help local businesses and nonprofits that have experienced business disruption because of COVID-19.
Funds ranging from $500 to $5,000 are available for for-profit and nonprofit businesses including 501(c)6 and 501(c)3 organizations and home-based businesses. Businesses or nonprofits must be within the city of Cortez and must be operating or working to reopen and be in good standing with the state.
Eligible funding requests include reimbursement of expenses that have occurred or other costs incurred to accommodate social distancing and public health requirements.
Funds may also be used for COVID-19 expenses still needed to meet public health and social distancing requirements and to help businesses meet anticipated needs to remain open through the end of the year. All funds must be expended in 2020 and for 2020 expenses.
Funding may be used for costs of business interruption caused by required closures or for certain expenditures for events that were canceled. Requests must not duplicate funding already received.
The first round of grant applications are due Nov. 23, and the second round of applications are due Dec. 14.
