Jay Faurot drives his 1961 bus up from Farmington to participate in the Cortez Gun Show. He’s been selling guns at the local show as far back as when it was in the old K-Mart building.

Tables are set up, vendors have arrived, and the Four Corners Gun and Sportsman Show is set to kick off.

Figuring to be one of the area’s largest events of the year, the show will feature 260 tables, vendors of every kind, a car show and a quick draw competition.

While many new vendors plan to attend this year’s show, many familiar faces, such as that of Farmington resident Jay Faurot, will be present.

A criminal defense attorney and gun salesman who deals primarily in handguns, Faurot explained that the Cortez show’s wonderful atmosphere keeps him coming back.

“They’re nice people here,” said Faurot. “The people who run the show do a good job, and it’s a nice facility.”

This year’s show will run throughout the day, April 25-27, at the Montezuma County Fairgrounds.
