There is a buzz in town with changes for the better in Mancos.

Some of our local entrepreneurs are getting new businesses prepped and ready to open in the near future. You have probably noticed that the Enchanted Mesa Motel at the west end of town on Grand Avenue has been getting a face-lift with a new coat of paint and construction workers in and out of the building throughout the day.

The motel is under new ownership and new management. It will soon be ready as a vacation rental and lodging for extended stays. The house portion of the motel will soon be able to accept guests seeking a place for a family reunion or perhaps a wedding group. It will sleep 12 very comfortably. The motel rooms will become lodging for visitors staying for extended periods of time, two weeks or more.

An electric bicycle shop is going into the Bauer Bank Building where Nathaniel's Hat Shop used to be. The former location for the Painted Turtle on Grand Avenue is going through some remodeling to accommodate a sweet shop that will also sell plants, flowers, cards, balloons and ice cream. Soon Mancos will have its own brewery, too, and a barbecue restaurant. Mancos is on the move again, and we are getting ready of a great summer season.

The Mancos Valley Visitor Center (VC) will be shifting hours soon. As of Monday, May 5, the VC will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday and on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The new summer hours will be in place until the end of October.

Remember that the VC is looking for volunteers to join the Mancos Valley Ambassadors. We are here to welcome visitors to our community and let them know about all the Mancos Valley has to offer.
