Durango finally has its first dollar store.
The La Plata County Planning Commission in December 2019 approved construction of a 9,180-square-foot commercial retail store to be located at 29639 U.S. Highway 160 near Three Springs, but at the time, it was unclear who would be the tenant.
It appears in recent days the location is slated for a Family Dollar.
Calls to the property owner, Georgia-based Leaf Properties, whose president is Doug Kinsey, were not returned. A request for comment from the land agent, Southwest Land Services, was also not returned.
Family Dollar had not yet opened its doors as of Friday.
