Thursday, July 14

10:20 a.m.: A woman complained that a former roommate wouldn’t let her retrieve her property from a residence in the 21200 block of County Road P. The deputy was unable to contact the former roommate who reportedly was in possession of the property.



1:30 p.m.: A deputy confiscated two rusty and inoperable revolvers that children had found that morning in the Dolores River near the 1400 block of Railroad Ave.



Friday, July 15

10:05 a.m.: A driver with a suspect temporary license plate pulled into the parking lot at That Place restaurant at Central Ave. and 11th St. in Dolores and ticketed for driving with a revoked license, failing to show financial responsibility and possessing an expired registration. He received a warning for displaying a fictitious temporary license place.



10:53 a.m.: After a report of a domestic disturbance at a residence in the 6500 block of County Road 21, a deputy obtained a warrant seeking the arrest of a man for third-degree assault.



11:30 p.m.: A motorcyclist was ticketed for failing for operating a vehicle without proof of insurance or a motorcycle endorsement on his driver’s license and for failing to obey a stop sign at Fourth St. and Railroad Ave. He received a verbal warning for an unregistered vehicle. The deputy noted that he had recently ticketed the motorcyclist for operating a vehicle without proof of insurance or possessing a motorcycle endorsement.



10:43 p.m.: A couple reported that a marijuana plant worth $50 and a Boston terrier worth $850 were missing from their residence in the 28300 block of County Road K.2



Saturday, July 16

11:23 a.m.: A man was ticketed for driving 86 mph in a 55 mph zone on U.S. 491 north of Cortez.



3:46 p.m.: A deputy requested a warrant for a man who allegedly damaged a gasoline hose at the Skyline station in the 27900 block of Colorado 184 but left the scene without providing complete insurance information.



7:41 p.m.: A driver was pulled over near Empire and State streets and given a verbal warning from an unrestrained child and a summons for driving while her license was suspended.



Sunday, July 17

6:36 p.m.: A man admitted taking a trailer from the Cortez Livestock Auction, in the 12100 block of U.S. 491, that a relative had sold in Mancos on July 9. The man said that only he had the right to sell his trailer. The deputy and new owner gave him until July 18 to return the trailer or face a theft charge.



Monday, July 18

10:42 a.m.: Heat and air-conditioning systems, appliances and plumbing valued at a total of $4,435 were reported stolen from a residence in the 14800 block of County Road G.



10:07 a.m.: A woman was arrested on an active warrant in the 25000 block of County Road G.



11:39 a.m.: A man reported that 552 pounds of beef, pork and wild game meat valued at $2,010 had been stolen from his freezer in the 24900 block of County Road F.



9:06 p.m.: A deputy responded to a report of a disturbance between a teenager and his stepmother at a residence in the 28200 block of U.S. Highway 160. After an investigation, the father and son agreed to sleep on the other side of the trailer to gain separation from the stepmother.



3:09 p.m.: A small fire at a power pole in the 17200 block of County Road P was attributed to sparks that flew off a grinder used by a man who working on a flatbed trailer. The man, who is a volunteer fireman, used a Lewis-Arriola firetruck to help extinguish the fire, and Empire Electric repaired the line.



7:52 a.m.: A man was given a summons for violating the Montezuma County fire ban while conducting a controlled burn in the 17500 block of Colorado Highway 145 in Dolores. The deputy discovered that the property owner, who had a bad memory, had a warrant for his arrest. The owner’s brother agreed to take him to court.
