Friday, July 22

6 p.m.: A ranch caretaker in the 10900 block of County Road 23 reported that a sheep valued at $350 had been shot dead. The deputy questioned the owner and neighbors but didn’t find evidence or leads.

6:59 p.m.: A report of a peeping Tom who had taken photos from outside a residence in the 23600 block of County Road F.5 led to an admission by the photographed woman’s separated husband. She declined to press charges.

3:27 p.m.: A vandal or vandals spray-painted the threats “...OuSideR LevE wile its Still Safe, and “Outsiders Will Die” and “Die” a restaurant in the 100 block of S. 11th St. in Dolores. It was unknown who was the target of the threats, and cameras did not record evidence. Neighbors did not provide evidence.

11:44 p.m.: A deputy arrested a man on an active warrant after he’d been detained by a Bureau of Indian Affairs officer near County Road MM and U.S. Highway 491.

Saturday, July 23

12:39 a.m.: A driver reported a hit-and-run accident in the parking lot of the Riverfront Bar & Grill in Dolores that caused $500 damage to her vehicle’s door.

Sunday, July 24

3:51 p.m.: A motorcyclist who was sleeping on the ground in the 26500 block of County Road L was arrested on an active warrant.

11:09 p.m.: A report of a disturbance and gunfire in the 25100 block of Colorado Highway 145 led to no arrests or citations because of conflicting and altered accounts from several neighbors. Two deputies and a Colorado State Patrol officer were on the scene.

Monday, July 25

2:53 a.m.: A woman who said she was walking home with her groceries was stopped at County Road G and U.S. Highway 160 and arrested on an active warrant. She was then given a courtesy ride to her home in the 22400 block of County Road D.

11:55 p.m.: A male driver was cited for driving 70 mph in a 40 mph zone in the 12000 block of County Road 25.

5:10 p.m.: A man was arrested on two active warrants at a pawnshop in the 24000 block of County Road G.2.

Tuesday, July 26

6:51 p.m.: A man who was reported missing by fellow hikers in Canyon of the Ancients was found in good health about 6:25 a.m. the next morning. Deputies and Search and Rescue assisted in the search.

8 p.m.: An empty purse was found at a rest stop in the 33000 block of U.S. Highway 160.

Wednesday, July 27

9:33 a.m.: A man agreed to remove a pile of gravel from a road in the 15700 block of County Road 37 in Mancos to allow traffic to a private property to the north.

3:53 p.m.: A man reported that someone had broken into his fifth-wheel trailer at Boran Storage, in the 15500 block of Colorado Highway 145 in Dolores, and stolen tools worth a total of $500.

5:15 p.m.: The Mancos Fire Department extinguished a half-acre brush fire in the 33000 block of U.S. Highway 160.

Thursday, July 28

6:06 p.m.: A man found a wallet in Dolores and turned it over to a deputy, who has been trying to contact the owner.

9:37 a.m.: A resident in the 23000 block of County Road G reported that he had lost $3,590 in a mystery-shopper scam based in Borger, Texas. A deputy verified the scam with police in Texas.

5 a.m.: A woman reported that her boyfriend had assaulted her at a home in the 27300 block of County Road R in Dolores, but her allegations were not supported by the evidence she provided.

Saturday, July 30

4:49 p.m.: A man was cited for DUI and disobeying a stop sign in Joe Rowell Park in Dolores.

Sunday, July 31

6 a.m.: A male driver was ticketed in the 15000 block of County Road 25 for failing to proved proof of insurance and warned about a nonworking headlight.

1 p.m.: A resident near the 27300 block of County Road P reported that three dogs had attacked his turkeys, and one was eating one. He also reported that he found a fawn that he believed a dog had killed, but the deputy was unable to locate the dog.

5:40 p.m.: A male patient at Southwest Memorial Hospital did not want to press charges after he was accidentally shot in the eye by a friend with a BB gun in Hesperus.

Monday, Aug. 1

10:30 a.m.: A deputy received an arrest warrant for a sex offender who had failed to register and provide his new address. According to the Bureau of Indian Affairs, the man also is suspected of vehicle theft. The man’s whereabouts are unknown.

1:58 p.m.: A deputy fought with man for more than 10 minutes after a trespass call at a residence near U.S. 160 and Colorado 184 in Dolores. The deputy, who considered the struggle to be a “life or death” fight that also endangered the lives of the couple and children who lived at the house, suffered minor injuries in the struggle. The man was served with a warrant for a previous DUI and arrested on suspicion of first-degree assault.

Tuesday, Aug. 2

6:11 p.m.: A man reported that someone appeared to have trespassed on his property in the 27200 block of County Road M.7, but a deputy found no evidence.

12:36 a.m.: A deputy investigated a possible stolen vehicle in the 28300 block of County Road 29, and a day later, listed it as stolen when its owner indicated she’d press charges.

Wednesday, Aug. 3

12:12 a.m.: A man was arrested on an active warrant at Hillside Apartments, 300 N. 15th St., in Dolores after a neighbor complained about a loud argument.

Thursday, Aug. 4

3:19 p.m.: A man reported graffiti on several outbuildings at a property in the 23900 block of County Road G.
