Pueblo Community College Southwest has announced its partnership with Needful Provision Inc. for a program to provide agricultural instruction and on-the-job training for disadvantaged and veteran farmers and ranchers.

PCC Southwest and NPI agricultural instruction staff plan to use an array of agricultural instructional materials to create customized agricultural programs. Training will include entrepreneurship, farm business planning and finance and other specialized education topics.

On-the-job crop production training will take place on NPI’s research farm near the college campus, where an all-season greenhouse will be utilized. NPI also will lease a self-sustained, mobile food processing trailer with the ability to can, freeze, dry and make food products, and well as provide temporary cold storage for food products.

Goals of the project include crop diversification, increasing farming profits, and to improve self-sufficiency, nutrition and employment opportunities.
