Wednesday, Aug. 12

5:08 a.m. A man turned himself in on an active warrant at Montezuma County Jail, 730 E. Driscoll Street.

7:03 a.m. A spare tire was stolen from a vehicle in the 400 block of South Beech Street.

3:21 p.m. A man and a woman were reported to have shoplifted tools from a store in the 1300 block of Main Avenue. Employees identified the suspects from a photo lineup.

3:42 p.m. A woman reported the theft of an antique bowl and headphones from her home in the 1300 block of Mesa Verde Street. She suspected her son’s female friend. The friend will be questioned.

6:19 p.m. A woman was arrested in the 800 block of South Broadway on an active warrant for failure to comply.

6:46 p.m. A woman was arrested after being involved in a disturbance in the 300 block of West Main Street. The woman allegedly struck and scratched the man.

7:32 p.m. A vehicle break-in and theft were reported at City Market, 508 E. Main St.

Thursday, Aug. 13

12:00 p.m. The rear window of a truck was broken overnight in the 400 block of South Linden Street.

2:23 p.m. A man was arrested on an active warrant in the 200 block of North Park Street.

3:59 p.m. A man was arrested on suspicion of bond violation and theft, and a woman was cited on suspicion of theft in the 300 block of West Main Street. The couple had taken a bag and other items from the man’s brother and were found with the missing items in their possession. The man appeared to be intoxicated, a bond violation.

7:53 p.m. A man was arrested on an active warrant in the 500 block of East Main Street.

Friday, Aug. 14

6:59 a.m. A man was arrested on an active warrant for failure to appear for arraignment in the 700 block of East Main Street.

6:59 p.m. A woman was arrested on three active misdemeanor warrants in the 10 block of South Sligo Street.

10:32 p.m. A man was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear in the 1600 block of East Main Street. An officer pulled over the man’s vehicle for failing to maintain his lane and dispatch confirmed the driver had an active warrant.

Saturday, Aug. 15

2:20 p.m. A man was cited for trespassing in the 500 block of East Main Street. He had been previously trespassed from the property.

9:11 p.m. A man reported a firearm missing from his garage in the 1100 block of South Market Street. He believed his daughter and boyfriend had taken it by mistake when they moved out, but they could not be contacted.

Sunday, Aug. 16

11:23 a.m. A man was arrested on an active warrant out of Mesa County in the 1500 block of East Main Street. Mesa County declined extradition because of COVID restrictions, and the man was released.

9:23 p.m. A man was arrested on suspicion of second-degree assault on a peace officer, child abuse, resisting arrest and obstructing a peace officer and was trespassed from a property in the 1300 block of East Main Street. The man allegedly got into an argument with his brother while intoxicated, and with his children present. He allegedly resisted arrest. The children were released to their mother.

Monday, Aug. 17

7:48 a.m. A man found a 9mm magazine on his property in the 700 block of West Fifth Street. It was placed into evidence.

8:13 p.m. A man failed to use a turn signal in the 200 block of South Elm Street. An officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but the man parked and entered a residence. The vehicle’s license plate was seized.

11:14 p.m. A man was arrested on two active warrants and was cited on suspicion of violating a protection order in the 700 block of East Main Street. The man was prohibited from possessing or purchasing weapons, but was in possession of a 7½-inch knife.

11:49 p.m. A male inmate was served a warrant at Montezuma County Jail, 730 E. Driscoll St.

Tuesday, Aug. 18

1:01 a.m. A man was arrested on suspicion of eluding police, DUI, driving without valid license, reckless driving, failing to provide proof of insurance, multiple traffic violations, open container, obstruction of a peace officer, resisting arrest, possession of drug paraphernalia and criminal mischief and a woman was arrested on suspicion of violating a protection order and bond conditions in the 200 block of East Seventh Street. An officer observed the vehicle driving erratically and initiated a traffic stop. The woman complied, but the man allegedly resisted arrest and then kicked and shattered a door at the hospital.

12:11 p.m. A found cell phone was turned in to the Cortez Police Department, 608 N. Park St. It was found at Mesa Verde Inn. The owner was not identified.

6:18 p.m. A shed window was broken in the 1400 block of Acoma Street.
