Cortez Quilt Co. is now an authorized Bernina sewing machine dealer. Bernina was founded in Switzerland more than 100 years ago and is the only remaining independent, family-owned manufacturer of sewing machines in the world.
“We decided to go with Bernina because of their reputation for quality, the precision Swiss engineering, and the education and training that they offer for both the dealers and consumers,” said Karen Childress, owner of Cortez Quilt Co. An open house to kick off the new dealership was held on March 1 with more than 70 people in attendance. “It was a lot of fun. Bernina owners are very loyal to their brand, so there is a lot of excitement around the area that we’re on board with the company,” said Childress.
On-site sewing machine service and repair is also now available at Cortez Quilt Co. “Our certified technician works on all Bernina machines and other brands as long as they are no longer under warranty,” said Childress. “We also now have the ability to special order parts and accessories for most brands of sewing machines.” .
