Speaking with Montezuma-Cortez High School senior Kenna Tarr, it is impossible to be unimpressed.

Easygoing, intelligent and athletic, the senior has made an impact on the soccer field, in the classroom and around the community.

Soccer standout

A four-year varsity soccer player at M-CHS, Tarr anchors a stout Panthers’ midfield that has performed well thus far this season.

“I love that you can play with your heart and be as good as you want to be if you practice in your off time,” said Tarr.

Discussing goals for the upcoming year, Tarr spoke at length about the importance of team and her hope that this year will be special.

“My goal for this season would be to find unity as a team through the good and the bad,” Tarr said.

Top-notch student

More than just an athlete, she has established herself as one of M-CHS’ finest students.

With a 4.0 GPA, Tarr especially enjoys science-based classes such as anatomy, chemistry and health.

Intent on obtaining her nursing degree, Tarr will attend Pensacola Christian College in Florida this fall.

“I was looking at different schools in the country that were affordable and had a Christian focus,” said Tarr. “I came across (Pensacola Christian College) and it was on a beach. You can’t beat that.”

Focused on faith

Tarr spends her time away from the soccer field and classroom volunteering for her church. Whether teaching Sunday school, serving in ministries or participating in other church-related activities, Tarr is involved.

Tarr spoke fondly of her time at M-CHS.

“I’ll always remember making lasting memories with friends,” said the standout senior.
