Wednesday, July 8

9:36 a.m. A woman was cited on suspicion of having a dog at large in the 700 block of East Fourth Street. The dog allegedly attacked another dog while being walked by its owner. Neighbors reported similar problems.

8:26 p.m. A woman was cited on suspicion of having an unlicensed dog and maintenance of animals that disturb the peace in the 200 block of South Madison Street. The dog allegedly bit a man’s hand and was aggressive toward neighbors.

Thursday, July 9

4:19 p.m. A hit-and-run crash occurred in the parking lot of City Market, 508 E. Main St. Both vehicles were backing out at the same time, and one driver left the scene. No citations were issued.

7:18 p.m. A cell phone was lost or stolen at Walmart, 1835 E. Main St. The owner believed it fell out of her pocket, but it was not turned in.

Friday, July 10

3:34 a.m. A man was arrested on suspicion of third-degree assault and domestic violence in the 200 block of East Seventh Street. A man hit his wife multiple times.

11:38 a.m. A radio was reported as stolen in the 400 block of West Seventh Street. While a man was having a panic attack, an acquaintance took a radio from his bag and left. Police were able to retrieve the radio.

11:47 p.m. Several teen boys were seen punching a car and throwing rocks at it in the 400 block of South Linden Street. They caused moderate damage, but none of the witnesses could identify the suspects. The vehicle’s owner later reported that she found an ax handle in her car and some ammunition was missing. The ax handle was taken for fingerprinting.

Saturday, July 11

2:53 a.m. Theft from a vehicle was reported in the 500 block of West Sixth Street. Several items were taken from an unlocked car, including a purse and wallet containing cash and credit cards, an envelope with cash and checks and an auxiliary cord. There were no suspects.

Sunday, July 12

11:27 p.m. A man was cited on suspicion of third degree assault in the parking lot of City Market, 508 E. Main St. While on patrol, an officer witnessed a man stomp on a man who was lying on the ground. The suspect ran from the scene but was apprehended.

Monday, July 13

12:36 p.m. One man was cited on suspicion of second-degree assault, and another man was cited on suspicion of violating a protection order in the 200 block of South Sligo Street. The two men were involved in a verbal altercation, and one man hit the other man in the head with a bludgeon-type weapon. The injured man had contact previous to the altercation with a woman who had a protection order against him. The woman was traveling with the man who hit the other man.

1:26 p.m. An opal ring was reported stolen in the 1000 block of East Empire Street. The ring went missing from the owner’s bedroom dresser drawer. There were no leads or suspects.

1:33 p.m. A man was cited on suspicion of felony menacing, felony pretrial bond conditions, misdemeanor pretrial bond conditions and violating a protection order in the 800 block of East Montezuma Avenue. Two men were involved in an altercation, and one of the men brandished a knife. Bond conditions prohibited him from possessing weapons.

7:36 p.m. A man was arrested on suspicion of menacing with a deadly weapon in the 400 block of West Seventh Street. The man was swinging a sledgehammer at passing vehicles and threatened an off-duty officer when contacted.

Tuesday, July 14

9:24 a.m. A man was arrested on suspicion of unlawful distribution of a controlled substance, protection order violation, unlawful possession of a controlled substance and a Durango Police Department warrant for failure to appear in the 500 block of South Broadway. The man had been ripping up paper and throwing it on the ground at a restaurant. When searched by an officer, drugs and drug paraphernalia were found.

3:24 p.m. A Honda pressure washer was reported stolen in the 800 block of South Broadway. It went missing between July 11 and 14. There were no suspects or leads.

3:53 p.m. A man was cited on suspicion of trespassing in the 500 block of East Main Street. The man had been trespassed from the property previously.

6:46 p.m. A man was arrested for DUI, driving with a revoked license, operating an uninsured vehicle, possessing an open container in a vehicle and operating a vehicle with a defective stop lamp in the 300 block of West Main Street.

9:16 p.m. A woman was cited on suspicion of unsafe backing, careless driving and DUI in the 500 block of South Madison Street. Two women were involved in a verbal and physical altercation. One woman attempted to leave and backed into the other woman’s vehicle.
