Thursday, Feb. 20

Debbie and Clay Caldwell will present their recent trip to Peru at the Dolores Public Library on Feb. 20 at 7 p.m. They will share their adventures hiking the Salkantay Trail, visiting Machu Picchu, the Sacred Valley, and Lake Titicaca. Meeting of the Montezuma County Democrat Central Committee will be Feb. 20 at 6 p.m. at The Spruce Tree Espresso House on Main in Cortez. The Central Committee is the Officers and Precinct Committee People and or anybody interested in becoming a Precinct Committee Person from their precinct. Friday, Feb. 21 and Saturday, Feb. 22

The Sixth Annual Homegrown Food Retreat will be at Fort Lewis College in the Student Union Ballroom on Feb. 21 at 7 p.m. and Feb. 22 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Coordinated by Southwest Colorado and sponsored by Zia Taqueria, Fort Lewis College Environmental Center, Sodexo, CSU Extension and Durango Natural Foods. Tuesday, Feb. 25

The Dolores Rotary Club will sponsor a bingo night at the Dolores Community Center on Feb. 25. Proceeds will benefit the Mancos students traveling to Costa Rica for a science trip March 31 - April 7. Friday, Feb. 28

Dr Robert: the Beatles Tribute Band comes to the Dolores Community Center on Friday Feb. 28 from 7 p.m. - 12 a.m. Admission is $10, with kids 12 and under free. Local jazz funk band Afrobeat Minions open the show. Dress to impress in your best retro & vintage '60s & '70s garb! All ages are welcome, bar for 21 years & older, food concession by The Pie Maker. Sherry Dyess, Montezuma County Treasurer, would like to remind property owners that Feb. 28 is the deadline to pay the first half of your 2013 property taxes. If you have questions concerning your taxes please call 565-7550. Postmarks through Feb. 28 will be accepted.

"A Literary February" is the February theme of Raising Readers Storytime at the Cortez Public Library, located at 202 N. Park St. Storytime is every Thursday at 10:30 a.m. for preschool-aged children. Tuesday, March 4

The Hisatsinom Chapter of the Colorado Archaeology Society is pleased to present Linda Honeycutt on March 4 at 7 p.m. at the Methodist Church, 515 Park Street in Cortez to discuss Seven Basketmaker III Black-on-white Bowl Motifs. The Montezuma County Democrat Caucus for 2014 is being held on March 4 at Mesa Elementary School Cafeteria from 6 to 9 p.m. This will be for Precincts 1-10. Precinct 11 (Mancos) will have their Caucus at the Mancos Public Library at the same time. Please contact Ric Plese at 739-4365 for any questions.

Sunday, March 9

Little League Baseball is now open for registration. Super Saturday registration will take place at the Cortez Recreation Center on Feb. 8 and 15 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. or at Hibbett Sports on March 8 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Baseball is open for ages 4 to 15 as of April 30. Cost varies from $55 to $105 according to age. To save money register by Feb. 15, registration closes March 9. Registration forms can be downloaded from cortezlittleleague.com or picked up at the Rec Center, Hibbets, or the Super Saturday events. There will be a benefit Chili dinner and silent auction for Amy Martin, a mother of three fighting stage 2 breast cancer, to help with medical bills on March 22 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Lewis Arriola Community Center. First Tuesday

Dolores Mountain Quilters meet 10 a.m. the first Tuesday of each month at the Dolores Community Center, 400 Riverside Ave. February meeting will include new squares for veteran's quilts. Second Thursday

Republican Women of Montezuma County invite the public to meet at noon every second Thursday at Shilo's Steakhouse at 5 Veach St., in Cortez. For information, call Rosemarie Beall at 564-1576.

A Free legal self-help clinic for Montezuma County parties without an attorney will be held the second Thursday of every month from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Mancos Public Library, 211 W. First St. Volunteer attorneys will assist one-on-one, via computer link. First come first-served basis.

Third Thursday

First and Third Thursdays

Planning committee for the 10th Annual Ute Mountain-Mesa Verde Birding Festival meets at 10 a.m. on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of the month upstairs at the Cortez Cultural Center. Anyone interested in volunteering is welcome to attend. Call 565-1151 for details.

Fourth Tuesday

A new Republican woman's club has been formed locally called 4 Corners Republican Women's Club. Regular meetings are held the fourth Tuesday of the month at 11:30 a.m. at the Cortez Elk's Lodge. For more information, please call 565-2197.
