The White Cup Coffeehouse would like to extend our thanks and gratitude to all the firefighters and police who worked so hard to control and put out the fire in downtown Cortez Sunday morning. The firefighters literally put their lives on the line for the protection of the structures. We are so thankful that there were no injuries during those long hours of fighting the fire. We would also like to thank all who kept us informed on the progress as the morning went on.
Our thanks include everyone in Montezuma Valley that came to help. Joining the Cortez Fire Department were the Dolores, Lewis Arriola, Mancos and Pleasant View Fire Departments. Together, their efforts not only put out the fires but also saved the adjacent buildings. A person can never fully realize how important the fire and police departments are until an emergency like this happens.
At the same time, there are not enough words to express how we feel for the three businesses that were destroyed. We extend our thought and prayers that you will be able to rebuild, hopefully here in Cortez.
