Citizens State Bank completed its transition into a branch location of Four Corners Community Bank, Monday.
Four Corners Community Bank bought Citizens State Bank in October, and the computer system changes were finished Monday, said Sheila Mathews the president and CEO.
The new ownership wanted the building to retain the Citizens State name because of its historical significance. A new sign was unveiled as part of Monday’s afternoon celebrations.
“Citizens State Bank has been in place for 70-plus years. We wanted to honor that,” Mathews said.
Citizens State Bank was founded in 1936 and locally owned until 2007. It was a state-chartered Colorado bank with two branches and $80.6 million in assets.
After the merger, Four Corners Community Bank, a Farmington-based business, now has three branches in town and about $300 million in assets.
Mathews said Citizens State Bank customers were not losing services and would have better online banking service starting Monday that would allow them to see their transactions in real time. She said the bank would now offer small businesses the option to pay taxes and employees electronically.
