Saturday, May 9

3:04 p.m. A woman was cited on suspicion of careless driving in the 12000 block of County Road W. The driver took a corner too sharply and crossed the center line, hitting an ATV and causing damage to both vehicles.

5:50 p.m. A man was cited for DUI in the 21000 block of County Road G. Deputies set up a road block after receiving a report of a man with a gun. The driver pulled over and consented to a search of his vehicle. No gun was found, but he could not satisfactorily completed roadside maneuvers, and a portable breath test registered a blood alcohol content above the legal limit.

Monday, May 11

4:33 p.m. A man was cited on suspicion of unlawful ownership of a dangerous dog in the 27400 block of County Road P.2. A man was bitten on the back of his right thigh by his neighbor’s dog while out walking.

Wednesday, May 13

12:29 p.m. Two men were involved in a water dispute in the 43900 block of County Road M. One man was accused of taking water illegally. The dispute was resolved.

Thursday. May 14

9:07 a.m. A wallet and backpack were stolen from a woman’s car in the 30200 block of County Road S.7. The woman forgot to lock the car the previous night. Another vehicle and a trailer were also searched by the suspect, but nothing was taken. Credit cards in the missing wallet were used at several locations in Cortez, but there were no suspects.

10:53 a.m. Vandalism was reported in the 1300 block of Central Avenue, Dolores. A window was broken, a screen was damaged and a door lock was damaged. There were no suspects.

Friday, May 15

12:28 p.m. Damage to a travel trailer window was reported in the 14800 block of County Road 26. Someone tried to pry open the window and damaged the crank and screen sometime after May 11. There were no suspects.

3:42 p.m. A tan 2001 Infinity QX4 SUV was reported stolen in the 24600 block of Road G. The owner left the car unlocked in order to easily show it to buyers. It was last seen the evening of May 14. There were no suspects.

5:15 p.m. A vehicle with no license plate or temporary tags was observed on the side of the road in the 26500 block of Road M. The deputy placed a 48-hour tag on the car.

9:54 p.m. After a traffic stop for a broken taillight, one man was cited on suspicion of unlawful possession a controlled substance and criminal impersonation, and another man was issued a traffic warning. When the deputy approached the vehicle, a large, unsheathed knife was observed, and the driver said he had a pistol on his hip. The passenger, who had given a false name, reached for something on the floor after being told to keep his hands on the dashboard, and the deputy drew his weapon and called for backup. During a search of the vehicle and the suspects, meth, marijuana and several more knives were recovered. The passenger also had and active warrant for failure to appear on several forgery charges.

Saturday, May 16

9:04 p.m. A woman was cited on suspicion of false reporting in the 11900 block of County Road 39.2. The woman called 911 twice to report a physical altercation between two of her neighbors. Both reports proved unfounded.

10:39 p.m. Fencing was vandalized at Lewis-Arriola Community Center, 21176 County Road S. A witness heard boards breaking, but did not see anyone. There were no suspects.

1:17 p.m. A physical altercation between two men occurred in the 100 block of North 11th Street, Dolores. A man knocked on another man’s door and asked him for a beer. When the other man said no, the first man allegedly hit him four to five times. The victim defended himself and the suspect knocked his own mother down during the fight. The suspect was uncooperative and was taken to the hospital for medical clearance. The victim did not want to press charges.

5:05 p.m. A burglary was reported in the 5500 block of County Road 24. A microwave was stolen from a residence, and shoe prints were observed around the outside of the building. The case is ongoing.

Sunday, May 17

8:17 a.m. A burglary was reported in the 11100 block of County Road 20. Security footage showed a silhouette walking around inside the residence, and a pizza had been cook and cut with a knife before being left on the front deck. There was no evidence of forced entry or footprints. A motion detector alarm indicated the burglary occurred at 2:45 a.m.

7:34 p.m. A man was cited on suspicion of DUI and his license was revoked in the 36400 block of County Road G.9, Mancos. Multiple witnesses confirmed the man had been driving and the deputy observed signs of intoxication. The man refused a portable breath test and field sobriety tests.

Monday, May 18

11:58 p.m. A male inmate was served with warrants for assaulting a peace officer, resisting arrest, obstructing a peace officer and trespass at Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.

5:41 p.m. A man was cited on suspicion of violating a restraining order and bond conditions after running from his case worker in the 100 block of North Park Street. The man was found drinking alcohol, a violation of his probation and multiple restraining orders.

Tuesday, May 19

11 a.m. Fraud was reported in the 100 block of West Main Street. A woman’s credit cards were reported lost, and new cards were sent to an address in Manhattan. Charges totaling over $1,200 were charged. The woman said she had never reported the cards lost or visited the locations where the charges were made.

11:24 a.m. A deputy responded to a report of property damage and a man with a gun in the 22900 block of County Road N. Two men were involved in a dispute over access to a property. The suspect had cut a fence. He had a holstered gun on his belt and resisted the deputy’s attempt to secure it and was pinned against a truck so the deputy could retrieve the gun. The dispute was then settled by review of the subdivision plat. The suspect was not legally allowed access through the fenced area. He was ordered to remove his vehicle and complied.

3:11 p.m. A woman requested a welfare check on her sister and her sister’s boyfriend who she believed to be traveling in the area of Forest Service Road 526. Deputies made contact with the sister on May 21, who reported she and her party were safe.

Wednesday, May 20

3:04 p.m. While assisting another agency, a deputy observed a couple growing marijuana in the 4700 block of County Road 41. About 300 plants were being grown, which was above the legal limit of 12. They were ordered to destroy all but 12 of the plants and they complied. Compliance will be checked in the future.
