Our president’s response to the virus and his lack of compassion and healing for our country is more than disturbing.
He called himself a wartime president. If this was World War II, we would be speaking German or Japanese now.
During World War II, we put our country to work, producing bombers, battleships, fighter planes, munitions; and everyone pitched in to help in the fight. Now we can’t even produce cotton swabs for testing. He promised private enterprise will help with the millions of tests that are needed, Walmart, CVS and Target will be able to offer testing. So far less than a handful have been able to.
He pitted the states against each other for life-saving equipment. He gave us no national response to one of the worst crises of our time. The president is supposed to lead by example. He refuses to wear a mask because it makes him look weak. He helped make wearing a mask a political statement instead of a statement that is to help and care for our fellow humans. He has used this pandemic to sneak through more rollbacks of our environmental regulations, that protect our air, water and Earth. He continues to rape and try to steal our public lands, lands we all love, where we play, graze our cattle, hunt and fish and that we want to leave for future generations.
Instead of trying to pull our very divided country together, he divides, spreads lies and hate, and has made it into them-against-us. United we stand and divided we fall. I fear right now we are in free fall. We need better leadership.
