The Dolores Ranger District plans to burn slash piles left over from fuels reduction projects, beginning Feb. 4, on the San Juan National Forest.

Firefighters will ignite about 300 piles located off FS Road No. 559 about seven miles north of Mancos in the Millwood area and about 30 piles off FS Road No. 504 east of Dove Creek in the Doe Canyon area.

Operations will continue through the week, weather permitting, from mid-mornings to mid-afternoons for optimum smoke dispersal.

No road or trail closures are expected.
