Two market attendees take advantage of the washing station at the end of a row at Durango Farmers Market. Behind them, market-goers distance themselves from each other.

Starting in June, the Durango Farmers Market will expand its presence Saturday mornings in the TBK Bank parking lot on West Eighth Street across from the City Transit Center.

The market will now occupy the entire parking lot at the bank, and past vendors including Fired Up Pizza, Thimbleberry Smoothie, James Ranch Artisan Cheese and Banga’s Farm will rejoin the market. Artisans carrying soap, healing salves, herbal tinctures and other local products will also sell their wares at the market, Market Manager Melanie McKinney-Gonzales said in a news release.

The farmers market’s orgainzers are maintianing its social-distancing measures and ask that customers wear a face covering and use hand-washing stations or hand sanitizer located at the entrance of every row. They also ask for the community’s participation in keeping the venue a safe place by not gathering, lingering or socializing at the market.

The Durango Farmers Market takes place from 8 a.m. to noon every Saturday at the TBK Bank parking lot.
